Luxe Styler Spring Photoshoot

I’m back!! Sorry I’ve been absent. I’ve been going to some personal situations that kept me away from blogging but I’m back! I’ve also started a new YouTube channel, The Curvy Classic, so go subscribe if you haven’t already! Ok…enough about me and more about this cool photoshoot I did for Luxe Styler.

Luxe Styler Intro

Luxe Styler is a new image consulting business started by my former Torrid sister, Cj Spottsville. She recently ended her long career with Torrid to follow her dreams of starting her own business and it’s truly inspiring. She contacted me about participating in a photoshoot for her new venture and I jumped on board! Below is the reason for the shoot:

“I wanted to do this photoshoot to show women different types of beauty. It’s my first official one and I wanted to include as many shapes, sizes, and skin tones as possible. Half of the clothing shows how to shop for new items and put them together, thanks to Lane Bryant and Hillside Village in Cedar Hill. And the other half of clothing is from the closet re-work I did with everyone. It shows how someone can have fresh new looks without spending a dim on new clothes. I think it’s important for women to know that it’s ok to dress however you want, no matter what size you are, as long as you are comfortable, and it makes you happy. I want to break this weird double standard we have for women about spending money on themselves. It’s okay to spend several hundred dollars, within your means, to purchase things you want. It’s also okay not to spend more than five bucks for a dress on clearance. For whatever reason though, when women do either, one is too high maintenance or vain and the other is cheap or has low self-esteem. I want women from all walks of life to know that she can do, be, and want whatever she wants It’s never too late or early to re-invent herself for her own happiness.”

Closet re-work is re-styling you with clothing you already own. Cj came to my house and went through my many closets, styling looks for the shoot. It was fun seeing her create outfits with items I haven’t really styled before. I wore them a while ago and never really wore them again. I like re-working my closet because it gives me new ideas and gives new life to my items.

We were waiting for Spring weather to kick in, and it finally did!  Below is the inspiration behind the shoot:

“Aesthetically, I wanted to give off the sense and feeling of Spring during the day and at night. The day looks being brighter with lots of white and bits of yellow. To me, Spring days feel like the onset of summer without all the heat; Night looks with a more romantic feel with shades of pinks and purple. Spring nights are still cool and makes you still want to wear softer, girly colors. Made sure to add in pops of neon accessories or a little bright pink for on trend visibility for both.”
