I’ve been so busy with work, I haven’t had time to post about my trip to NYC! My friend, Ashleigh, had convinced me to come to NYC and attend the Curvycon and volunteer at FFF Week. I finally decided to stop making excuses and plan a trip! We went to a lot of events and met a lot of people. It was kind of surreal for me because I’ve never met many people who are in the plus-size industry. I’ve seen all of these people on Instagram and Facebook, but it was so different seeing them in real life. It was nothing but a week of inspiration for me. All of the women I met were truly sweet and left me with kind words. I hope to see everyone again next year or at future events! Next year’s Curvy Con will take place during NYFW, which is close to my birthday!!
One of the differences between Dallas and NYC is the WALKING. I’ve never had to walk so much in one day than I have being there. We literally walked all around the city, took trains everywhere, and I had to walk up multiple flights of stairs to the train or to get into her apartment! Picture me struggling, dragging my luggage up to the 3rd floor. Yea…very exhausting. After the first day, my feet and legs were killing me! If I ever decide to move to NYC, that is something I have to get used to.
I did develop a new addiction while I was there….CHICKEN & LAMB OVER RICE!! Like..OMG are you serious?? Best ever and was eaten almost every night when I was there. I also had some really good Chinese food. I’ll have to try more food next time.
I was dressed in head-to-toe Torrid for both days of Curvy Con. The fist look I went with was a classic denim shirt and a white pleated, lace skirt. It was really flowy and the right length, unlike some other skirts I’ve tried. I combined two necklaces to make one big statement necklace, because I hate small necklaces. My second look included the cutest white blazer from Torrid. It’s one of my favorites and #83 in my closet. Yes, I have a blazer obsession. It has chiffon sleeves and an open front. I paired it with a floral top and my favorite lean jeans.
